Brian Marshall DVM, MS
Dr. Marshall hails from Yarmouth, a tiny farming town in
southeastern Iowa where the dogs and cats outnumbered the
people. He attended Iowa State University as an undergrad and
veterinary student, graduating in 1996. After graduation, he
completed a small animal internship at a large emergency/referral
hospital in Ottawa, Ontario. He then spent two years at The Ohio
State University studying neuromedicine and surgery. While at
Ohio State, Dr. Marshall also completed a master's degree in
veterinary clinical sciences studying the ototoxic effects of an
antibiotic called amikacin. Dr. Marshall moved to Colorado in 1999
where he worked at the Aspen and Carbondale Animal Hospitals
for five years. He moved to the Durango area in 2006, working at
the Bayfield Animal Hospital until he purchased the Baker's Bridge
Veterinary Clinic in 2010. Dr. Marshall lives with his dog, Jade, two
cats, Nicodaemus and Roland and two horses, Chip and Renoir. He
enjoys hunting, fly fishing, telemark skiing, horseback riding,
mountain biking and goofing around with the computer.

Meet our staff!
Jaden (Jade)
Jade is our official greeter, part-time 'lab work' and dog biscuit
taste-tester. She can usually be found sleeping under Dr.
Marshall's desk or as a nose sticking through the half-door in the
reception area checking out new arrivals.
Jill Brazell
Jill is our head technician, chief ordering officer and general
know-it-all. She grew up in Durango on the banks of the Animas
River. She began working at BBVC in 1994, a short six months
after the clinic opened. Jill enjoys horseback riding, recreating at
Lake Powell and dog agility. She has a border collie named
Spyder who may be the smartest 'person' in the clinic.
Spyder
Spyder wears many hats around the clinic. He can usually be
found acting as assistant receptionist, second-string
biscuit-taster and full-time squirrel chaser. He also enjoys dog
agility and lounging under the counter.
Patricia Dougherty
Born and raised in Phoenix, Az....spent 6 years in the US
Army.....attended Maryland University and graduated in 1991
with a BS in Business Management......began a career with State
Farm Insurance that lasted 15 years before deciding to do what
I have always wanted to do...work with animals!!!! Former
Director with the La Plata County Humane Society led to my
friendship with Dr. Cohen and employment with Bakers Bridge
since 2007. I have 3 dogs (all champion mutts), 2 physically and
mentally challenged cats (my lap dogs I always wanted) and
whatever rodent(s) decide to occasionally enter my abode and
play with my cats! During my off time I am either
boating/snowmobiling or travelling!
Bullet
Bullet arrived at our clinic in April of 2007 after being shot
through the abdomen. Dr. Cohen heroically removed his spleen,
two loops of bowel and the bullet. He is now our official 'clinic
cat' and can be found prowling the grounds for ground squirrels
or sleeping in the window.
Annie Baker
Annie is a part-time receptionist at BBVC. She's currently a
senior at Durango High School and will be attending Ft. Lewis in
the fall. She loves animals and currently has 5 dogs, 4 cats, 6
fish and 4 horses.
